We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our Retail Operations team in Guernsey.

The purpose of the role is the effective leadership and management of Store Managers in order to maximise sales in the Grand Marches, Locales and En Routes outlets, maintaining consistent high operational standards across all trading units including Post Offices. To act within Society policy at all times, and to control outlets costs and expenses in line with policy and budgets in order to maximise their net profitability.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Direct responsibility for the following locations: All food stores in terms of profit and people within the designated operational area including post offices, Cook franchise and online picking operations

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is fundamental in the success of our Food stores across the island.  You will deliver and develop sales within the Grand Marches, Locales and En Routes outlets within the budgets agreed by the Head of Retail Operations, and set operations goals and expectations.  Working closely with the store managers of each location you will ensure the highest standards of performance, presentation, hygiene, customer service and general store standards.

You will ensure strategic priorities and business goals are aligned with that of the budget, exercising tight control over profit and loss to deliver area net surplus targets.

A sound knowledge of the laws and regulations around Employment, Health & Safety is imperative in this role to ensure that they are implemented and used effectively.

As a Leader of the Operation team, the Operations Manager will:

• Embed the culture and values of the Society within retail operations, and encourage all management and staff to attain the highest possible standards and work within the spirit of the agreed Aims and Values of the Society and the Management Charter

  • Provide coaching and leadership to grow the skills and abilities of your management team
  • To lead and support the culture of managing risk and due diligence across the estate. Proactively manage risk throughout all areas including technical safety, Health and Safety, financial risk, Stock loss prevention, Leakage controls and other legislative and legal requirements required for all safe operational requirements under your control.
  • To train, challenge, motivate, encourage, and provide constructive guidance to Store Managers and the team related to all areas of effective operations.

  • Has relevant professional qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience required to execute the role

General to the Role:

  • Must possess a full current driving license (car).
    • Must be comfortable commuting within the Channel Islands
