Three Oaks Vineries: Meet the producer

28 August 2024

In 2024, CI Coop spent £8.4 million with local producers, making us the largest stockist of local produce on our island, and as part of our blueprint for a sustainable future, we're committed to promoting local sourcing even more. We had a chat with Nina from Three Oaks Vineries, one of our long-time suppliers and a fantastic advocate for growing locally, about the process from plant to plate and the importance of supporting local.

Can you give us a brief history of Three Oaks Vineries?

Three Oaks Vineries is a family business, currently on the 4th generation of growers!

When did you start supplying Coop?

We have a long-standing relationship with the Coop, who have continually supported us for the past 42 years!

What produce do you grow?

Around 15 different varieties of tomatoesWe also grow courgettes, aubergines, peppers, chillies, beans and cucumbers.

What's so special about vegetables grown in Jersey?

You can taste the jersey sunshine! Knowing the food is grown locally always makes it tastier.

How soon can vegetables hit shelves from being picked?

This varies from each variety and time of year, but we like to leave the tomatoes on the plants for as long as possible to maximise the flavour and nutrition, therefore it’s usually about 24-48 hours

How important is it that islanders support local businesses?

It’s so important for our food security on the island and it also minimises food miles.

By supporting local, you are supporting your community and securing the future for the next generation.
